Aware

I am aware of the goodness of God.

This is a line from a song we sing some Sundays at church.  I enjoy singing it, but even more than that, I enjoy the idea of being aware of God’s goodness.  Because it is a choice – to be aware or not, once we know something.  A conscious decision.

God is good.

Whether I acknowledge it or not, He is.  Whether a person gives God praise or blames Him for circumstances, or even curses His name, His goodness isn’t changed or diminished.  It just IS.

I like that. It is at once exhilarating and liberating.  Ah, the freedom that comes as a result of such a belief!  Simply amazing.

Being aware  – I’m realizing there is power in it.  Surely, awareness is the first step in many of life’s journeys – love, talent, opportunity, the path to sobriety.   None of these can get underway before there is awareness.

Here are some other things of which I am consciously deciding to be aware these days…

My marriage is a treasure.
My children are amazing people.  Right now.
I am blessed beyond measure – I have more than my fair share.
I have responsibility to use what God has taught me to help others.

Lord, help my thoughts and actions be driven by awareness.
