Sixteen

Our son turns 16 today – a milestone, to be sure.

As I type this, there are deep booming voices coming from the living room where he is hanging out with some of his closest buds.  They are awesome friends – the kind we prayed for – who make him laugh and have his back and help him stay the course.

Nick didn’t want a party – or any attention, really.  (It’s a safe bet that he doesn’t want a blog post either.)  What’s a mother to do?  I’ll be brief.  Here is a haiku I wrote a few years ago describing Nick.  Every word is still true.

He is a giver

Thoughtful kind intuitive

Funny tall young man
