Wasn’t it fun, plucking petals from flowers?
…he loves me – he loves me not – loves me – not – love…
I used to twist apple stems while saying the alphabet, hoping to get the “right” initial, and once I slept with a piece of wedding cake under my pillow, hoping to dream of my future husband.
It was all innocent enough – and fun, really – the wondering and the hoping and the dreaming.
Today, I have been married to Rob Perry for 23 years, 1 month and 9 days (yes, of course I had to figure that out just now). The daisies in my path will be glad to know they are safe. Over these many years, Rob has found lots of ways to express his love for me, and today we have a new one.
Ordinarily, we leave for the office at the same time, but today I was leaving later than he, and was still upstairs when he left. When I entered the kitchen a few minutes later, I found his “love note” on the counter. It was a tower of little bottles – Vitamin D, Fish Oil Pills, baby aspirin – a little reminder that he wants me around and that he likes to make me laugh.
This is not lost on me, your Vitamin Tower. Guess What? I love you too!
It’s the stuff that dreams are made of
It’s the slow and steady fire
It’s the stuff that dreams are made of
It’s your heart and soul’s desire
